Technologies for innovative medical devices

Toward a revolution in diagnosis and management of diseases

Microtechnologies and artificial intelligence are transforming the prevention, treatment, monitoring, and even progression of diseases.

Our three types of medical devices

CEA-Leti offers technologies for three types of medical devices: in vitro devices, wearable devices, and implanted devices, as well as decision-support software, contributing to the transformation of the healthcare model. The goals are to leverage semiconductor technologies and CEA-Leti's multidisciplinary teams to develop industrial-scale devices with high performance and robustness, while conducting R&D in compliance with medical device regulations.

By providing data that can be directly used by healthcare professionals and/or patients, the advent of innovative sensors integrated into systems opens up unprecedented possibilities:

  • Diagnosing and continuously monitoring diseases at the patient's bedside, alerting on the evolution of critical physiological parameters.

  • Restoring motor functions through innovative brain-machine interfaces.

  • Slowing the progression of Parkinson's disease by illuminating the part of the brain affected by degeneration. A unique clinical trial is underway to evaluate this revolutionary therapeutic approach.
