Microelectronics: At the Heart of the Transportation and Mobility Revolution

In the digital era, transportation and economic growth go hand-in-hand. How can the growing needs of mobility be met while optimizing security and comfort and reducing its environmental impact?

The transportation revolution is underway, marked by three notable developments:
  • Automated vehicle
  • Development of electro-mobility
  • New solutions in the field of mobility linked to the dispossession and digitization of the economy

The microelectronics and communications research that Leti carries out, provides our partners with new opportunities in these fields.

For autonomous vehicles, for example, the devices that Leti has developed, such as MEMS sensors, infrared imagers, LIDAR, multi-core processors, cybersecurity, and LEDs, are truly technological innovations with global impact.

To improve performance in the field of electromobility and to facilitate e-mobility's acceptance in the market, Leti offers GaN power chips and battery management systems (BMS).
Lastly, our work on improving wireless communication connectivity involving all the ranges of radio frequencies and Li-Fi aims to improve intelligent transport systems (ITS) by refining fleet (maintenance on demand) and cargo management, and will help bring about a massive emergence of the IoT.

Traditionally, the transportation market is split into three distinct segments: vehicles (land, aerospace, rail, and marine), infrastructures (airports, ports, roads, etc.), and services for transporting goods and people. Leti offers innovative solutions for all of these sectors, for actors at every step of the value chain: OEMs, component makers, and sub-contractors.
