Nano-biotechnology Platform

The 5,500 sq. m nano-biotechnology platform deploys a full range of medical systems development know-how from sample surface preparation, biological analysis and substrate functionalization to packaging, microfluidics, microsystems, biological detection systems and component readers.

​R&D for biotechnology applications

The nano-biotechnology platform covers a surface area of 5500 m² and groups all the skills needed to develop higher-efficiency, less invasive medical devices with low energy consumption.

The nano-biotechnology platform covers various types of system in a One Health approach, which considers people in their environment and in their life course.  These systems are organized around 4 focus areas, ranging from in vitro diagnostic devices to wearable healthcare devices, via tools for pharma and bioproduction and tools for the environment and the exposome. The platform calls upon a variety of leading-edge technologies: imagery and non-conventional optical devices, innovative therapy devices, nano-medicine and vaccination, biomaterials, electronic and electrochemical sensors, labs on a chip, organoids on a chip, AI and embedded artificial intelligence.

This platform contains several installations:

  • Clean rooms dedicated to surface chemistry: surface treatment, loading of reagents and surface analysis on semi-conductors, glass and oxides, metal, plastics and polymers (small-sized series).
  • Microfluidics laboratories: micromachining, packaging and characterization.
  • Biology laboratories with L2 rooms intended for class 1 and 2 bacterial cultures, 2D and 3D cell cultures and blood samples.
  • Non-conventional optical imagery laboratories: simulation, test benches and characterization.
  • Gas benches for the distribution of calibrated gas mixtures involving relative humidity and T° variations (CO2, CH4, H2S, BTXE, formaldehyde, etc.) and particle benches.
  • Electronics laboratories for the design of conventional or electrochemical sensors intended for physiological parameter measurements.
  • Development office for medical device grade software, integrating remote or embedded algorithm solutions.
